So, if you are seriously thinking of getting a pressure canner, here are some of the buying guidelines that you have to thoroughly assess to make the right shopping decision.

Type

Like other kitchen appliances, canners are now sold in various types. They are constructed using different materials. That said, you have to determine the exact type of canner that you wish to acquire. Are you looking to purchase stainless steel pressure canners or aluminum canners? Aluminum canners are a popular choice among homemakers since they are known to be great heat conductors. However, canners made from aluminum do not hold as well as their stainless steel counterparts. They get dinged, pitted and dented easily. If you do not mind spending a few more, a stainless steel canner would surely be a great option to consider. These canners are much more durable compared to the aluminum type and are typically used for cooking purposes but can also be used for canning.

Size

Pressure canner products come in varying sizes, usually from six to twenty-three quart capacity. Small canners, may it be a Presto pressure canner or All American canner, are generally used as a functional cookware, while the bigger models are the ones best used for canning. Knowing this, small canners are not the best option for homes that intend to do a lot of canning,

Brand

I highly advise that you only opt for canners made by well-reputed brands such as All American and Presto. Buying a canner made by any of the top brands will give you the certainty of good quality. In addition, you are sure that they are constructed with durability and efficiency in mind. Whether you choose to buy a Presto or All American pressure canner, you are sure that you will be getting good value for your money.

Price

Just as with any other items sold in the market, pressure canner products are sold in varying price ranges. The cost of the canner will depend on the size, brand, capacity and the online store where the appliance is bought.

By Tammy

In the past, I didn’t like asparagus very much. Matter of fact, growing up I won’t eat it at all. However, a few months ago I learned a new way to cook it and now I love eating the yummy vegetable. Whenever I cook anything I always get out all the equipment and ingredients that I will need to make a delicious and tasty dish. I make sure all my stuff is out on my counter and ready not only to save time, but also to make sure that I have everything that I will need to complete my task of cooking my food.

Items Needed

Asparagus

A frying pan or a grill pan. I prefer to use my grill pan that fits on the burners of my stove.

A pair of tongs for turning the asparagus over.

Cooking spray

Salt

Pepper

Olive Oil

Garlic Powder

Choosing Asparagus

I prefer to purchase my asparagus at a farmer’s market that is located here in my town. However, I am not always able to do that so when the farmer’s market is closed I get it from the grocery store. A tip to buying asparagus is to look for smaller sized asparagus, in my eyes it seems to be much more tender than the larger stalks.

Preparation

The first thing you should do is place your pan on the stove, then spray it with cooking spray and turn it to low so it can heat up.

At this point, clean your asparagus by running it under cold water in the sink, the object is to make sure to get all the sand off of the stalks. After you wash it, then place it on a paper towel.

Now, season your asparagus with salt, pepper and garlic powder continuing to rub each stalk with a little bit of olive oil.

Cooking Your Asparagus

It’s time to put the asparagus on your grilling pan or in the frying pan depending on which one you’re using to cook your asparagus. I cook my asparagus for about one minute on a side, then I take my tongs and cook the other side for about one minute, as well. Your asparagus will be done when you can easily poke it with a knife. Oh one more thing, I have noticed that when I buy asparagus it is best if I use it right away because it seems to lose flavor if I store it in the refrigerator for too long.

Hopefully you found this guide on how to cook asparagus useful. Happy Eating!

The task of buying an engagement ring is not as easy as one might think. You can ask my brother what hell he had to go through just to find the best engagement ring for my sister-in-law. But of course, all the hard work was worth it when he heard her say ‘YES’ after asking ‘Will you marry me, my love?’

For those who have finally decided to propose to their girlfriend, you surely would want everything to be perfect, from the venue of the proposal up to the engagement ring. However, with a great number of engagement rings available in the market, you can’t help but ask yourself how do you pick the right one?

To help those who are buying engagement rings for the first time, here is a simple but very useful step-by-step guide on how to buy an engagement ring.

Step 1: Know what kind and style of jewelry your future wife likes.

If you are to ask me, I would suggest that you bring your girlfriend with you when you purchase the engagement ring. By doing so, you can easily take the pressure off your shoulders since you are certain that the ring that you will purchase is something that she really likes. However, if you are anything like my brother who happens to love the idea of surprises, then you can seek the assistance of friends and relatives to help you find out what kind of ring your soon-to-be-wife would like to have on her finger (without her suspecting anything). My brother asked for my assistance to help him spot the best engagement ring. Since I am close to my sister-in-law I easily got intel on the style of jewelry she wears as well as the metal color that suits her best.

Step 2: Search for a well-known and reputable jewelry store.

Once you know what kind of ring she prefers and will look good on her, your next task is to locate the shop where you should purchase it. You can ask recommendations from your married friends for great jewelry shops selling stylish and reasonably-priced engagement rings.

Step 3: Consider your budget and know how much is too much.

Engagement rings can be expensive but you can also find those that fall right within your budget if you take time to shop around. There is really no set formula as to how much one should spend when buying an engagement ring. Basically, how much you spend for the ring will largely depend on your available financial resources. If money is not an issue, then go for the lavish designer engagement rings. You can even have one custom made but of course know that this will cost you a lot of money. Meanwhile, if you are a bit on the frugal side, there are engagement rings that are priced around a couple of hundred dollars, though they may not be as lavish and elegant-looking as designer rings they definitely have their own charms.

Your budget will also dictate what kind of stone the ring will have. Most would prefer diamonds but there are cheaper alternatives like aquamarine, topaz and sapphire stones. However, if your soon-to-be-wife is a sucker for diamonds, like most women, then you have no other choice but to go for a diamond engagement ring. Other considerations that will likely affect the ring’s price include the stone’s clarity, color, carat and cut.

Here’s a great video explaining the 4 C’s which determine a diamond’s grade.

Knowing how to make a website is a skill that is becoming more and more useful. Back in the day, you’d need to know some HTML to put up just a simple website. Fiddling with tags and remember to close them can be a headache if you’re just starting out. A very basic website would involve something like this:

<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

Basically, for every tag “<>” you open, you need to then close it “</>”. HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. In fact, you could create a local site on your computer by opening a text file, writing the code, then saving it as an HTML file. This is how I actually got started learning to build a website years ago. It would take me forever just to put up something very simple. Fortunately, learning how to make a website today involves almost no coding knowledge whatsoever.

What You Will Need

Domain

Hosting

WordPress

Domain

The domain is the URL that you see for every website you visit such as this site: tipps.org

You can get domains at many sites such as Godaddy.com and Namecheap.com. Godaddy almost always has coupons that you can use. You can find the coupons at the following site: livecodes.blogspot.com

You will be paying under $10 a year for the domain.

The name you choose for your domain will depend on what you plan on using the website for. If it’s just a personal website, then any name will do. If it’s for a specific purpose like to make money selling a product, then ideally, you want some word in the domain that relates to that product. This isn’t necessary but it will help in terms of ranking in the search engines.

Hosting

You’ll need hosting to put your website on. Your domain will point to your hosting which is basically a server that will store all of your website’s files. Companies like Hostgator are among the top rated. You’ll need to buy your domain before you get hosting for the first time.

Hosting will cost about $10 a month but you can host unlimited domains on 1 hosting account.

Connecting Your Domain and Your Hosting

Once you have your domain, you’ll need to change the nameserver address to point at your hosting company. When you buy a hosting account, you will be emailed the nameserver addresses. There will be 2 of them.

Here’s a video to guide you through this process.

Setting Up Your Website

Once you have your hosting account, you can install WordPress on it. WordPress is a platform that makes creating a website extremely simple. Here’s a video to show you how to do that. During this process, you will be asked to create a username and password for your site. Make sure you use a secure password and remember it.

Once that’s all set up, you can now log into your website by going to yoursite.com/wp-login (replace ‘yoursite.com’ with whatever you site’s domain is of course.)

You’ll be using the login info you created when you installed WordPress. Once you enter your site’s admin section, you can click on “Appearances”, then “themes”, then “install themes” at the top. From here, you can search for different types of themes and install them onto your website or you can just use the default theme that comes with WordPress.

Creating Posts

To create a post, just click on “Posts” on the left hand site of your WordPress admin and click on “add new”. From there, just type away.

As you can see, learning how to make a website is easy now that you have the power of the WordPress platform. Anyone can make a really nice looking site without knowing any code. Now if you want to customize your site’s look, then some coding knowledge may be necessary.

There are tons of tutorials online that will teach you how to customize certain things.
